The plate is a 14" scalloped rim plate carved to commemorate a wedding anniversary.
An ornate Cross, typical of wrought iron crosses atop 18th century European churches, forms the central focus of the plate symbolizing the religious aspect of the marriage. The couples' names (including the wife's maiden name) and their marriage date are carved on the outer rim of the plate. The shafts of wheat on the outer rim represent the bread of life.
