The central focus of the box was to be a beautiful piece of scrimshaw provided by the child's grandfather. This was framed with a horseshoe (in the upward orientation to catch good luck). Two open corral fences, symbolic of the whole world open to the child as he journeys through life, then bordered the frame and scrimshaw. |
