I have a certain fondness for nautical design. Perhaps this is due to being the son of a renowned authority of the building of clipper ships. My father, at the age of 84 and after a lifetime of research, authored a definitive and widely praised book entitled:
The American Built Clipper Ship, 1850 - 1856.

The compass rose and other nautical designs have a vast history with mankind and lend themselves particularly well as symbols expressing life's potential directions and hazards.
