The interior of the music box contains a Reuge CH 3/72 music movement. (That is, the cylinder contains three different parts of the music. As it plays, one part is heard while the other two parts pass between the teeth of the comb. Then, after each complete revolution the cylinder shifts ever-so-slightly to play the next portion of the tune (or next tune selection). An interior, 3/16" Glass Lid is mounted in the music boxes and serves two purposes. First, it protects the music movement from damage. More importantly, it creates a "chamber" in which the music can resonate and amplify. I've arrived at this arrangement through many trial and effort attempts to successfully improve on the sound of "production" boxes. |
